French Beaux-Arts Copper Spelter Chandelier

$12,500

A French, Beaux-Arts, copper spelter chandelier with a curved, saucer shaped center body that has a reverse leaf and finial design and a top cherub figure that holds a basket of flowers on its head. The 6 horn-o-plenty shaped arms boast 4 candle lights each and have gold colour candle covers, while the 6 reeded rod arms are what connects the body of the chandelier to its canopy. This piece, from around 1905, perfectly reflects the Beaux-Arts style that was dominant during the gilded age. A subset of the Neoclassical and Greek Revival styles, the style is known for its order, symmetry, grandiosity and elaborate ornamentation.
